Are you a salesperson? If so, sales is a big part of your life. Do you spend time learning sales skills? If not, you should.
What if you are not a salesperson? Do you spend time learning sales skills? You should too. Sales is a big part of your life.
One thing all people have in common, regardless of our occupation, is that we must sell ourselves to the people we come into contact with on a daily basis.
What if you have a big job interview? Wouldn’t you like to go in there knowing that you have the ability to sell yourself in the best manner possible.
People outside of the sales profession associate salespeople with telemarketers, or car salesmen, or that friend or relative that keeps bothering you to join the latest network marketing scheme with him. Unfortunately, these salespeople give sales a bad reputation.
Very few of these salespeople truly know what successful sales is about. Successful sales is building relationships. It’s really about making friends. People do business with people they like. If you can connect with people and get them to like you, then a whole new world of opportunities will open up for you.
Learning these skills will carry over into all areas of your life. We are constantly making impressions on the people that we meet. Are you making the right impression? If you don’t know the answer to that question, then you need to work on your sales skills.
Everyone, in my opinion, should read “How to Win Friends and Influence People” by Dale Carnegie, and “Influence: The Psychology of Persuasion
” by Robert Cialdini. If you don’t have a sales job, these two books should be all you need. Read them, and most importantly, apply what you learn. They will change your life.
